 I prefer my fluff with a plot, at least something I can relate to, and a tidy heartwarming ending. This was pure name-dropping of expensive brands and I just couldn't make myself care.

I wouldn't say the movie is objectively better, but it's very different, and the movie appealed to my sensibilities more. The book is a satire, not a romantic comedy. The characters aren't very developed, and there are a TON of them. The setting is indeed crazy though, and very richly described. Kwan clearly knows the foibles of rich people in and out and I'm impressed with all the detail. If you like books that rely primarily on setting, you might enjoy this more.

esqueci o dia q terminei rs
enfim, o livro é divertido por fazer a gente entrar no mundo de cingapura, pelas fofocas que rolam, é como um gossip girl asiatico, mas os personagens sao bem unidimensionais :( e a escrita não é lá essas coisas, talvez o filme vai ser melhor que o livro
