This was an absolutely gorgeous read and Backman is becoming a favourite of mine. I sometimes think I'm horribly emotional and sensitive when I read these books, but by the end of it, I realise the beauty in emotion and how the pain hurts but heals. Love love love this.

This reminded me a bit of Big Fish - but a little more grounded in reality.   I really enjoyed how everything tied together with the fairytale world of almost asleep.   I enjoyed this even though I wasn't quite in the mood for this sort of story - so, imagine if I had read it when I was in the mood!!   Lovely tale.

There are a lot of characters and it was hard for me to figure out who's who at first. It is charming but also very sad/emotional.

An extremely moving novel discussing the complexity of grief and the stories that live on long after. Elsa is such a spunky kid and her wise yet youthful mind cuts through so much sadness.
