After finding this on the 2018 Rainbow List by the American Library Association, I really wanted to read this to see how it addressed the issue of trans* people. This book, which features beautiful full color illustrations, tells the story of Bunnybear, a bear who does not feel like he is a bear, despite looking like one. All he wants to do is live his life, but has trouble fitting in, until he meets Grizzlybun, who is similar to him. This book has great themes of accepting people for who they are and that it’s okay to not be just like everyone else who looks like you. I think this could be used in any elementary level classroom, but especially would be good for younger readers because it is pretty straightforward and light-hearted. Reading this in a digital form on Hoopla was a great read, especially with the ability to have a narrator read while you flipped through the pages.

This was an AMAZING book about trans animals, acceptance and it even made me tear up a bit. A must read for anyone wanting to teach their children about accepting others for who they are. The illustrations are beautiful too!! Highly recommended!

This is adorable. The art and the story are both perfect. It's also a good way to discuss identity with young children. "What do you do when you're a bear on the outside, but you feel like a bunny on the inside?"

Kind of adorable. Could be a good intro to trans stuff for very small children (and hesitant adults).

Adorable little picture book to open the conversation how sometimes people aren't the same on the inside as we look on the outside.
This book is a sweet way we're incorporating gender discussion with our little and their classmates.
