The Rebel is the second book in the series, happening next  school year after The Heir. Kingmakers is such a fun, interesting twist on the mafia and dark academia romance world. I saw someone say that they would describe it as the Hogwarts of the mafia world and that is the best description I’ve seen!

Book 2 is a forbidden romance between Zoe & Miles. I really enjoyed their story and getting to know each of them better. Both Miles and Zoe are somewhat mysterious characters in the first book so it was really interesting getting to know them and seeing things from their POV. 

There’s actually three POVs in this book: Miles,Zoe, and Zoe’s younger sister,Cat, which honestly annoyed me.
I really could have cared less about a Cats chapters.
I know why she was included as the third POV because she is the FMC in the third book but she just really grated on my nerves. She was very whiny and complained non-stop. I’m hoping she is better in book 3 because she will be Dean’s love interest but right now, I really don’t see them being compatible.

The twists in this book were out of control. Just when I felt like I knew what was going to happen, Sophie threw a wrench in my assumptions. It really kept me on my toes and I enjoyed every second of it. Each character you met in The Heir were present in this book and we even got a few new character additions.

I can’t wait to start book 3, simply for Dean.  Dean is such an interesting & complicated character and I can’t wait to see him as the MMC & not just an addition to the plot. 

I highly recommend this series, I’m so addicted! 🖤

forbidden romance and opposites attract…i was hooked. only issue i had was with the debt situation, as i think it could’ve been better explained and expanded on. other than that, this book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! can’t wait to read cat and dean’s story next!!

4 stars I definitely liked Miles and Zoe’s book better but I didn’t like their insta love too much.

Even though I didn’t like the whole insta love thing I did like how Miles respected her before he knew her better. I thought that was done really well.

I liked this plot better than the last because it definitely felt like more was happening and there was enough of the QB for it to be interesting but not too much to where it got annoying. 

Oh I also really liked the reveal of Miles’ whole plan because I did not see it coming. And speaking of not seeing things coming, I want to know what’s up with Hedeon he’s been very secretive throughout the first and this book so I need to know what’s up with him ASAP

After the whole insta love was done I liked them as a couple, because you can tell they’re a team and although Miles does things to protect her he never does them without telling Zoe. They were both in on everything and Miles didn’t necessarily act like Zoe needed saving, he knew she didn’t want to marry Rocco so he told he promised her she wouldn’t and got her in on his plan/let Zoe help him.

I am so glad Sophie didn’t give Rocco a redemption arc. I thought it was weird to give Cat a POV in this book but I guess it had to be done.

I love loved Ozzy and Chay and him need to end up together yesterday. I truly was mortified when he killed Wade because I did NOT want a Jason Grace all over again


DEAN CRYING??!!! HOLY SHIT!!! (Don’t tell anyone but I totally thought that was hot😂)

I have been sucked into this series. I'll be honest and say I don't love this couple as much as the first; it was a bit instalove for me, esp considering that they didn't particularly care for each other book 1 (and not in the enemies to lovers or mild antagonizers kind of way). This one was darker than the first to me as well. I love seeing Zoe's sister Cat step into her role as a Spy near the end... And who notices.
Check TWs, and FYI the bullying is not bully as in bully romance, but legitimate harassment, assault, bullying, etc.

As expected this book was dark as fuck howeverrr I still loved it and it was soooo much better than the first one like holy shit so much better 
Some parts were really fucking hard to read but overall I loved the main couple and enjoyed reading this book overall
