I loved this one so much as it had the Yen training Ciri story, and so many other characters were established and their relationships shown

The change in format, from short stories to novel, is a success : the world and characters acquire more depth. I still prefer the 2 first books so far, as this first novel feels like it's mostly preparing the reader to the future events.
Really fun and agreeable read, though.

I kind of liked the short story style that the prequels had better than this, but it was still a good read.

The ending of this book has gotten me interested in the next one - and I liked it much better than the second book! Ciri is cute and funny and it’s nice to see Yennefer in a different light. If only the editors had taken more care translating. The grammatical and linguistic errors really get on my nerve, as well as the careless spelling of names. Danidlion in the first book, Dandelion in the second, but now Dandilion again? Sigh.

4.5 stars. After watching The Witcher Netflix series, I was desperate for more content and was so excited to read this series. Sapkowski’s writing weaves complex characters into his world of intrigue. He balanced revealing the world's mechanisms with keeping other components a secret perfectly. I loved the small hints that were dropped about major historical events or things to come. It created the feeling that you were truly immersed in this world. Time jumps were frequent but I was able to more or less follow what was going on which may just be because I was prepared to have to focus after watching the show. This is a series that requires all your attention but it is worth every minute!

I enjoyed the short story "prequels" a bit more, but still thoroughly liked this one. It's a lot more politics than the previous, but I can't get over how amazing the character development and world building is.

This was such a great read. The book was a bit slow at pace sometimes, but I thoroughly enjoyed the scenes between Geralt/Ciri and Yennefer/Ciri, and I'm excited to read the next book in the series.
