An endearing story

A nice change from my typical read. Romeo seemed such a special animal - amazing the respect the people and wolf had for one another

A beautiful true account of a wolf who dared to come close to humans and our canine companions. Lovely writing but a bit drawn out.

I have a soft spot for wolves, so I was immediately drawn into this story. It ended up being about so much more than a wolf of course. Great imagery, good story, interesting "characters". Would recommend

I have mixed feelings about this book. The first half is all about the Romeo, his interactions with the people of Juneau, and the authors insights and research about the history of wolves and how they have been unfairly vilified by the world but by America in particular. Great info. I'm very glad to have read this part and to know those things as I was totally ignorant of them up until now. However, the last half of the book takes a turn into local politics and the community that rallies around (and some not) the wolf and wildlife in general. Which in and of itself is of course pertinent to the story but the amount of time and detail given is, in a word, tedious. That said, I'm very glad this man took the time to recount his tale, I'd give just about anything to have an experience like that.

A Wolf called Romeo is a fascinating and marvolus book. I'm not a huge fan of non-fiction and even I loved it.
