This is a fun series. Agatha Raisin is a gruff one. She is smoothing out her edges and continuing to solve mysteries. She would be an interesting friend.

Man. I hope it's not the case, but I feel like this series might have just jumped the shark.
Agatha's whims take her to the village of Fryfam and away from the object of her affection/obsession, James Lacey. The usual shenanigans abound, with Agatha winding up in the company of Sir Charles and in the middle of yet another murder investigation.
The side stories here were kind of silly and seemingly pointless (unless something in a future book leads back around to it) and the hurried rush and massive coincidences that made up the book's ending literally had me wondering whether the author had had a stroke (I know she has passed in recent years, but do not know how, so my apologies if she really did suffer a stroke, but I really couldn't think of another explanation for the sudden turn of events).
I liked it. Just barely. And I have the feeling I should end the series here and just leave with the idea that there might be some semblance of a happy ending in store for Agatha, but I'll probably give it at least one more book.
3 out of 5 stars.
