The plot of this book has so much potential, but there is a lot of overwrought nonsense in execution.
The random shifting of style doesn’t bother me too much, but it also doesn’t provide much purpose.
The appropriation and misrepresentation of Native culture is just plain racist, regardless of intent.
The queer representation isn’t great but isn’t wildly terrible, and I do think that the comments about trans representation, specifically, are reading too much into something that wasn’t supposed to be trans representation. It wouldn’t have crossed my mind as being about trans experience without seeing other reviews. I’m not trans, though.
