3 Stars. Had really been looking forward to a book featuring Sinclair as the hero - but something about the whole thing just felt a bit off.

It is only after reading so many of Caldwell's books back to back in succession that I am starting to get annoyed with her repeated phrases. How many heroes have to wipe their face/eyes with a hand? How many beads of perspiration do heroes have on their foreheads as they make love to their heroines ?

But other than that, enjoyed the story. Surprised at how awful Juliet's brother was. Loved Sinclair and his sisters. Hated his mother.

So many grammatical errors. I don't know why I keep reading them, probably because they are available on kindle unlimited and I'm on summer vacation.

Slightly better than the previous book in the series. Juliet and Jonathan are characters that will make you care, which is essential in this kind of genre. Juliet has an interesting background and her actions are a result of her past and her relationship with her brother shapes them. It is always good to understand where some of the main character's opinions are coming from, and that's something I appreciated in this story.
I do believe their instant attraction was a bit rushed, but in the end it didn't matter much. Overall, the pace was good and the story told was believable.

Yeah, there aren’t many reasons why I couldn’t finish this novel… There’s basically just one.
the main male character.
Cause seriously dude????

Okay, let me start somewhere else.
The writing style?
Was okay. There were just soo many comma mistakes. Drove me insane…

Plot?
Yeah, not really elaborate. I mean, it basically is about a guy who doesn’t want to commit to the person he loves.

Characters? Here it gets interesting.
I didn’t like that our heroine could be tempted so easily. Why would she even pine for a guy after he’s asked her to be his mistress. And how many times did that happen??
Cause he didn’t just propose that once, nope, more like three times.

So that was the main reason why I had to stop.
Because a guy who is a bastard like that, tempting her, then telling her he can’t have her as his wife even though there was NO, and I mean it, NO valid reason for that, is despicable.

this was not a bad story, in fact the characters were engaging. It was all just way too overwrought for me.
okay for Aayesha
