"Deal with the Devil" was fabulous and addictive: another incredible winner from Lark Taylor.
River and Mori's story lived up to my expectations, and then surpassed them: this book is absolutely packed with everything I love in my romances. From reluctant fated mates to forced proximity and found family... I loved everything about their journey towards a well-deserved HEA.
It's also packed with steam and banter, secrets and mysteries and action, and also, a high dose of emotional angst that left me simultaneously clutching my chest and screaming in frustration.
Mori's always been a bit of mystery, so getting to know this grumpy, snarly Viking of a demon a bit better was such a treat! I really, really felt for him at times: his past with Eric was so damn heartbreaking.
River, on the other hand? He's the literal embodiment of a walking, talking disaster. He's snarky and fiery and badass and I loved him to bits. And those two together were explosive! I especially adored the build-up between them, the tension and the will-they-won't-they: everything was absolutely delicious and delightful. Forced proximity is the superior trope!
I think Oscar and Cal will probably remain my favourites (at least for now! I just can't help it, I love them so much ♥️), but I adored this book, same as I adored Harlow and Bailey's story.
This third book introduces quite a bit an upheaval in terms of future books and pairings (I thoughts and feelings about a particular one, and I'm eager to see what other readers will think about it, and of course, to read it too when the time comes).
I'm excited to see what will happen because some very intriguing brand new characters (alongside some old ones) have a lot of page time this time around, and I honestly can't even predict what will happen with them all. But yeah... I'm ready: bring it on, Lark Taylor.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
