Loved returning to Bosch after a long time, and the streets of 90's LA felt oddly welcoming, with the way they are brought to life in the book. Which is weird because they were apparently crime ridden cesspools where people end up at in their journeys seeking fame and fortune. Parts of the book started feeling familiar and I thought it was deja vu, until I realised that I had already watched this book adapted into one season of the Bosch TV series. That was a while back, thankfully, and it was not too much of a spoiler as I recalled only a few parts, including one major twist. This really cements a conviction to read before watching adaptations. (Even though in hindsight the Bosch TV show was a very good adaptation.)

Continuing my re-read of the Harry Bosch series and Trunk Music was another great read. I am really enjoying this series, more so now that I am reading it in the correct order. The thing that stands out in these books is Connelly’s ability to create characters that are so well-written that you can’t help but become immersed in their stories. Trunk Music is a prime example of this. Bringing back an earlier character works really well here, and it really adds to the tension of the book as a whole. I can’t recommend these books highly enough!

Another hitter! I was excited to read this one because I'm starting at the beginning but took a short break after #4 since I started watching the series on Amazon (I know I'm late to that party). But reading this one after having gotten to this point in the series was great! I was able to see some of the subtle changes from book to tv and still find both enjoyable and to me that's the mark of great writing in both places. I love Harry!
