Listened to the audiobook for book club. It was decently funny and lighthearted while tackling a dark topic. While I understand why the author set this book during the COVID lockdown, it was one of the parts of the book that I disliked most.

First off, please pay attention to content warnings. This book could potentially be triggering to some people.

This was such an emotional but also funny book. I really like how the author weaved in dark humor with the heavy plot topic. I loved all the characters and I felt so stressed for them while they were trying to sort everything out. There were many ups and downs in this book, but it all kept me reading; I couldn’t put it down!

I’m glad these women were able to escape their husbands. I know the situation in which they’ve escaped is pretty iffy, since they did sort of murder them. But most people aren’t  actually able to escape, and I’m sure that Lockdown made some situations even worse. This book really made me reflect on domestic violence, and I’m definitely going to look into seeing how I can help in my community.

Just a chefs kiss of a book. Both funny and super dark. Well narrated too.

It may have just been that I lost momentum, but I had no desire to pick it up in between reading sessions.

I really enjoyed this and raced through it. It focuses on an important topic (domestic violence) and is set in the Covid lockdown. I think it worked really well and was very funny, despite the seriousness of the topic. The friendship that formed between the women was also wonderful to see come to life throughout the story. I’d really recommend this book!
