Insightful, and the writing is snappy and makes you think. I never lost interest once. Really challenges microagressions in a unique way.

I felt sucked with the opening scene through the end of the very long first chapter 🙄 then life got in the way and I didn't keep reading for 2 weeks and felt lost as there was a perspective jump. Even with it all being written 3rd person.

Through the middle I felt that alot of background was being simply told instead of small scattered flashbacks, as well as tertiary characters being introduced with minimal need to even be named.

Also, here with our MC I lost track of what the conflict was as there seemed to be about 5 problems to 'solve' with very little overlap to create a cohesive story.

Somehow, I guess Reid did just that though as our MC ends with most of those problems having a resolution 🤷‍♀️

I don't like rating this book so low because of some of the topics it deals with, but I think the 3rd person made it difficult to fully understand thoughts and feelings that led to actions. I was very confused by the motive of our secondary FMC for many actions.

I was pleased with how our MC "stuck it to the man" in the resolution. And to find out a final piece of backstory that made prior drama quite ironic.
