This book just wasn’t for me. The story line seemed a mix of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and You’ve Got Mail. I was a little annoyed with the FMC throughout the book and the MMC was just as bad. Both characters had emotional trauma that they were dealing with and seemed to glob into each once they were getting what they needed emotionally. The book did have spice fairly early on in the book. Just couldn’t get into it. Read this for my book club, glad I borrowed instead of bought it.

As a plus-sized girl myself, I agree with a lot of what Olivia Dade portrayed in her book. The fat shaming from the general population can be hurtful, is pretty much constant, and every plus sized person deals with it in their own way. And that’s okay. Olivia Dade covered some of the hardships that plus-sized, fat, large, curvy, big-boned people deal with, she doesn’t cover all of them by any means. It was nice reading a book who’s character I identified with so well. I loved the journeys that April and Marcus go on, they are each experiencing different things, but in the end the growth seen by those two characters was lovely to see.

Marcus Caster-Rupp is an actor who portrays Aeneas, in a popular tv show, and writes fan fiction, under the name Book!AeneasWouldNever, of the characters from the books that the tv show is based off of, as well as from the tv show. What most of his fans, and coworkers don’t know is that he is always playing a role, a public personal that he has used for years to hide his shyness and insecurities. April Whittier is a fat (her own words), geologist, who writes fan fiction, under the name, Unapologetic Lavinia Stan, and betas for Marcus at Book!AeneasWouldNever, who also betas for her. After a picture of her Lavinia cosplay goes viral, Marcus reaches out asking for a date. April sure that the date is a PR stunt, still agrees to go. Both characters, together and separately are working through their own insecurities, but will their insecurities drive them apart or help keep them together.

The only reason this book received 4 stars and not 5 is because I didn’t feel like the raunchy scenes were needed. However, the rest of the book was fantastic and really resonated with me. I know that some people wouldn’t mind the sex scenes but for me, most of it was unnecessary. The only thing they really added to the plot was solidifying the fact that Marcus was turned on by April’s body. But, the book did a good job of spelling out that fact without those scenes in my opinion.
