I am amazed at how well Berklie has captured grief, love, loss, and hope in her poetry, bringing the most painful emotions and experiences into the light with the beauty of Berklie's unique poetic voice.

Beautiful.  Heartfelt.  Poignant.  Thank you, Berklie, for sharing some of your words with us.

This was such an emotional read, I had to take breaks while reading it so I didn’t get too overwhelmed. It is an honest and reflective look at recent grief that is relatable for anyone who has had some sort of grief in the lives. There were, of course, some difficult references for me to understand, such as the biblical references, which is why I gave the book the rating I gave it. Thank you Berk for being an inspiration and an amazing creator!

I got my first copy of this book on my birthday - mid March. I have finished it now, at the end of the month. We are 24% done with 2023, and I am fairly sure that this will be the best thing I read during it.

I went into this book grieving. I was confused, because I had no reason or right to grieve. I had not lost anyone recently, not to death or to a fractured friendship. But since I had started hearing Novak-Stolz be open in talking about her grief, I started to notice the grief that I had shut down over time.

And then, three days into the book, my grandmother died. Lazarus Rises was my anchor. I am not claiming that I understand a fraction of Novak-Stolz’s pain, but I am thankful for her sharing it. This is the first book I’ve ever read to make me cry - not just tear up, but cry.

There have been hard days, recently, nights where I can neither bring myself to cry nor sleep. And on those nights, I start at page one, and read aloud the words she wrote there as if a prayer for us both.

Vulnerable and heartfelt. Probably I will re read when I go through grief, and I expect it will help.

A beautiful collection on grief and love after loss. Some of these poems will leave you feeling seen in ways you did not think possible. A great first collection, I cannot wait to watch Novak-Stolz grow.

I feel like this book ripped out my heart then put it back , but it doesn’t fit quite the same anymore.
