The Asian stereotypes present in this book are unacceptable, especially since this was written by a white person. The romance between Eleanor & Park also felt rushed and unbelievable at times.

This book was so close to being perfect that part of me just wants to give it 5 stars anyway. But the author's use of the r-slur and racially insensitive language was so uncalled for and unnecessary and took away from the beauty of this near-perfect romance.
