I enjoyed this book and found the story easy to follow and understand. I liked the characters, especially mo, and I really liked the universe created and the interesting concepts discussed. I loved the idea of reading aloud and making the book come to life! However I did find the book to be too long and slow paced, making it difficult to get through. The book wraps up really nicely at the end and I dont think it's necessary to read the sequels (i am not feeling particularly motivated to read any of the sequels).

Extrapunkte dafür, wie gut die jeweiligen Zitate am Kapitelanfang immer gepasst haben.

I read this book back when I was in 5th or 6th grade and I remembered loving it. I saw it at my local library and wanted to re-read it as an adult. I was not disappointed. The book is very easy to read, has a strong plot, and very lovable characters.

In short, it's a fantasy book about a father and a daughter - Mo and Meggie. Mo is able to read characters out of books, but in return, someone from the real world is place din their storm. Mo and Meggie go on an adventure, one that has been trying to catch up with Mo for years, in an attempt to right Mo's long-lost wrongs. Great story for a young person wanting to get into a fantasy book.

Well written, with characters impossible to not get attached to. It's been a hot minute since I've read this series, and it's still as fun as I remembered.

This was good and honestly surprisingly complex in story and character arcs for a children’s book. It was pretty dark for a children’s book, too. The sheer number of times animal cruelty was mentioned or described was quite disturbing. I’m glad I didn’t read this in my childhood.
Elenor was undoubtedly the MVP.
Still, I don’t see myself continuing with the rest of the series.
