This was a really cute book. I did like the main character, thought she was spunky and witty. Honestly, I think I would have enjoyed this book when I was younger. This is targeted towards a younger audience which is why I found it very predictable. Overall, this was really entertaining and fun to read. ;)

Sometimes I just need a good old fairy tale spin-off story, and this would fall into that category. Fairy tale characters are re-imagined mostly as teachers & students as the story follows a girl who tries to steal from a royal once too many times and ends up at Fairy Tale Reform School. The plot is a bit predictable, but that doesn't detract too much from a fun, well written story.

A solid 3.5 middle grade. Cute. Scratches that boarding school itch kits love.

At first, I was a bit skeptical about reading fantasy because I've always thought that it wasn't my genre until I found this delightful book. It's short and easy to read(finished reading it in 4 hours) and it's incredibly interesting. If you are just testing the waters to see if fantasy is your genre, you should read this book.

cute idea, okay execution. but there were TYPOS, you guys... kind of a lot of typos. names spelled wrong (including one in the "acknowledgements" section... "mlynowski" is a tough one but come on!), mixing up "then" and "than"... aaahh! aside from that, i feel like this book was definitely meant to set up the scene and characters for later in the series, which means it wasn't as action-packed as i'd expected. however, it wasn't super-descriptive either...some of the main characters, gilly's friends at school, had only a sentence or two of background info about them. again, love the idea of this book--fairy tale mashups, magic, naughty main characters needing "reformed"... but could definitely have been better. :/
