There’s nice things to say about this story, but they are all blurred out but the racism.

This is a book I read at 12 or 13 that has stuck with me for years. Probably reading this as an adult would be disappointing. I was certainly a little bookworm prior to reading this book, but I had never really felt fire from a book until reading Margaret Mitchell. I guess it's one of those coming of age experiences, but forever this book has a special place in my heart. Maybe I'll get around to re-reading it one of these days.

My mother named me after Scarlett Ohara so of course I had to read this amazing book at some point in my life

I feel like I need to brush my teeth with Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, floss with Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, and gargle To Kill A Mockingbird to get the taste of this shamelessly racist, revisionist diatribe out of my mouth.

My favorite book. I own more copies of Gone with the Wind than anyone should.

I had a passionate love and hate relationship with this book.
Before starting it, I never thought I am in for a hell of a ride, but overall it was an exceptional reading experience and with no doubt, I will need some time to pull myself together after this read.
I am really upset but this book is a true piece of art.

This is a tough one. The story is so good but the racism, misogyny, and romanticism of slavery is so strong. Every praise you’ve heard of this book is true, and every criticism is equally, if not more, true. In the end, I’m giving it a good rating because I rate them based on how engaged I was and emotionally invested, and that was a lot…. But yeah. It’s a tough one.
