Painful read if you have a soft spot for dogs. Cool descriptions of the far north, though.

I recently reread this book with my high school girls and truly enjoyed it. Although, to be honest, I cannot quite articulate why. I recall feeling the same way when I read it the first time. I found the development of Buck's character highly intriguing, the narrative of the Alaskan frontier during this time period incredibly interesting, and the notion of London's philosophical ideas woven into the story fascinating. I like reading that makes you think beyond the story as you read between the lines. Jack London always manages to do this for me.

сочний Джек Лондон про повернення до первісного стану, пробудження сплячих інстинктів, притлумлених розніженою цивілізацією. надихає бігти ранковий кросс через ліси і парки, як дикий пес, як волчара

Jack London, I love you.

Read this book with my Sophomore Honors—made for great teaching material. Will be using this novel again in future classes. <3
