“There is neither happiness nor misery in the world; there is only the comparison of one state with another, nothing more. He who has felt the deepest grief is best able to experience supreme happiness.”

Another Alexandre Dumas Novel falls into my top ten. I loved this. Although a 48 hour listen on Audible, it moved along in exciting fashion. While it was made up of almost entirely dialogue, it was full of drama in that unique, patient style only Dumas can pull off. I was only thrown off by how it ended differently than the movie— quite differently.

The character Monte Cristo and the Paris setting were my favorite parts. Cristo was so wise in the book that several of his quotes I believe will guide me in real life. Paris was such an interesting place in the 1800’s that it forces me to add it to me travel list.
