A realy good experience, I really believe that these are well written books and the characters are complex and likeable. If I'm honest I loved the first three books, but sadly the last one I didn't enjoy as much. It felt unnecessary; it is an interesting story and I would recommend reading it.

I really loved this series. Action-packed and really speaks to the power of aesthetic beauty in our society.

This series is amazing! The whole plot is so captivating, as is the world and characters. I felt a real attachment to the main character, Tally.

Though I rated this series as separate books on GoodReads -- because I thought the fourth book, surprisingly, deserved a higher rating than the first three -- I am writing a quick word of warning about this collective ebook collection, which is how I purchased it:

The titles are, ridiculously, *out of order*. Because there is no book covers (just a brief b&w title page), and for some reason it was put together with continuous page numbers (they are not numbered per book as they were written -- like a real boxed quartet would be -- but rather as a single continuous book, making it further complicated)... you can accidentally start reading #4 (Extras) *before* reading #3 ("Specials"). I almost did it myself.

I don't know about other versions (Kindle, etc.) but the ebook that I read on my Nookcolor was this way. Just fyi!

Another good teen series. I read it a while ago but I've been randomly remembering and adding books as I do. I wish they would make this a movie!

Uglies, by Scott Westerfield, was a waste of my time. The characters that were interesting were hardly mentioned, the way pretties talked was plain annoying, the story line was confusing and disorganized and it was just like Twilight. The story is about a girl named Tally who lives in a futuristic world where everyone above the age of 16 has gotten an operation to make them pretty. Unless you're a Smokie. The Smoke is like a camp where they escape the operation. Tally's friend, Shay, who she has known for 3 months is going to run away to the Smoke because all of her friends and her crush are there. She wants Tally to come with but of course Tally has to say no. Tally wants to become a Pretty but then these super bad guys called special circumstances come and tell her if she wants to become pretty, she has to become a spy first.
It was a really boring book and it was written like Twilight. Actually, Tally ends up falling in love with the guy Shay has already fallen for. It was a good story line but the characters ruined it. Tally really didn't have much of a personality. If Tally was a rock hard tomboy I would have liked it better, but Tally had to become a Bella character instead.
The cliff hangers were good. I really wanted to know what would happen next to Tally at the end. But I read the first chapter of Pretties and was annoyed by the way pretties acted and spoke. I was sick of the way they kept saying "bubbly" and "bogus". I also think the storyline was really original and interesting. But the real thing that ruined this for me was the time I read it. I may have liked this if I had read it two years ago. That was when I was a Twilight fanatic. I remember screaming and crying and going crazy for the next book. If I had read this around the same time I would have thought it was great. But now it's just not my thing. For those who are currently in love with Stephenie Meyers writing then this is the book for you. If you can hardly get past the first chapter, it isn't.

Read this book in middle school for the first time and read it many times during middle school. Not sure if I would love it *quite* as much now and I believe it was intended for a slightly younger audience, but it was a very entertaining read for me back in the day and I would probably reread it now if I had it on hand. It is quite a nice mixture of the popular for YA dystopian future as well as romance to spice it up and I really loved it!

It was wonderful and the ending surprised me a bit but it may be expected to others. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and it was extremely well written. I am now starting the next book, Pretties, and I'm sure it'll be just as wonderful as this one.
