Every once in a while, I try a Poirot. My reaction is the same: he's a boring, condescending snob who mocks those who seek his help. His assistants do all of the leg work.

As a young adult I read lots of Agatha Christie stories.
They are the reason for my love of mystery/thriller type novels.
I haven't read one for ages and just picked this up by accident.
It's a set of 12 short stories, and I usually don't like short stories, but these were enjoyable, easy to read and fun. Thy do hold all the understandable issues within the writing that that we can see today; the sexism, racism; classism, outdated attitudes etc. There is a lot of talk about the abomination that is cocaine. (It was apparently new back then.)
I gave them 3 stars because they are what they are.
Yes they are very outdated, but they still light, fun stories.
