This is a really sweet, magical story about a friendship between a not-zombie creature in a chicken suit and a little girl who struggles to remember the details of how they became friends. It is an endearing tale of a precious creature, aptly (?) named Bob and his friend Livy who met him when she was five years old while visiting her grandmother's house in Australia. Livy has returned five years later to find this unusual green creature in her bedroom's closet who has been waiting for her all this time. Together, they work to figure out who Bob really is, where he is from, and how to get him back to his people. I enjoyed the story but kind of wished for a little more adventure for Bob and Livy. I think I loved the relationship and the discoveries Livy and Bob were making about how their friendship started and I just wanted a little more. Other than that, it is a pretty quick read and I think kids will snicker at times and will adore Bob and all of his oddities.

A sweet and silly read-aloud with the kids. I might have gotten a bit choked up at the end.

This book was such a nice read!
This story is about a girl who, after five years, goes back to her grandma’s house without remembering much of the last time she went there. It happens that, when she’s back, she finds out there was something, or someone, who she forgot about! That someone happens to be a zombie, who needs her help to find his way back home.
What I liked in the first place about this book is how easy was for me to read it. Being a children’s book, this isn’t surprising, but it was exactly what I needed at the moment and once I started I could let go.
The characters were lovable, specially Bob. I couldn’t stop smiling while I read about Livy and Bob searching for Bob’s origins. And the drawings! They were so well made! <3
I definitely recommend this one. It’s a easy reading about mystery, fairy tales and friendship!

I was going to give it three stars because the story arc was a little off- a lot of setting the plot/ figuring things out- and then straight to the drama of the end. But THEN I read the end and it was so sweet and so perfect I wanted to cry and I 100% loved it. Fast read, super cute, magic, Wendy Mass. What’s not to love?

Loved this - so sweet!
One sentence synopsis: As soon as Olivia left her grandmother's home in Australia 5 years ago, she forgot about her friend Bob.
A great friendship story set in Australia. Would recommend for young readers looking for lighthearted books about friendship and growing up.
11-year old female main character; a not very scary "monster"
