I'd actually give this a 3.75, but the star system won't let me do that (as we all know) !!! I enjoyed this book... it's the end of this fabulous series... I really loved and adored the first three books in the series... so it's sad that this is the last one in the series!! I will say the ending was perfect, I cried...and it made me happy how everything happened and ended for the series. However I will state this book was my least favourite in the series. I'm not sure why, but I really enjoyed the other 3 way more. The cover of this book though is sheer perfection. Some of the best covers in YA Books <3 !!!

Forever Doon is an epic ending to an epic series. Although eager to read this final book and to share my excitement, I was even more hesitant to finally finish this series that I’ve anticipated every year since the first Doon book was published. Thus why it took me forever to read! Now that I finally have, it’s hard for me to find the right words to explain why I loved this series so much. It opened up an entire world to me. By that I mean not just the fictional world of Doon, but the world of fantasy fiction. How awesome is that?!

Previously in the Doon series, we saw Veronica go from an unsure-of-herself teenage girl to a queen in every sense of the word. Her faith in the Protector and moving on even when she thought she’d lose everything…that is what I call a proper heroine, folks! Her evolution is not the only one – Jamie finds himself in a physical, psychological, and spiritual battle. McKenna learns to kick butt with her hands and not just her words. Duncan deals with letting go of things beyond his control. Every character has their “great” moments and trust me when I say it is epic.

As always, my secret inner theater geek thrilled with every musical and pop culture reference. I love the mix of modern and past – it truly is the best of both worlds and reminds me of why I love time-travel stories so much. Although one might expect the constantly shifting perspectives between all four characters to be jarring, you really can appreciate the hard work the authors must have taken to make it as seamless as possible. I loved glimpsing inside the two prince’s heads, something that was missing previously. Their connection, or calling, felt so real and it was beautiful thing to explore. In summation, I loved every moment of this conclusion!

Like with every book in this fantastical series, there is legendary battles, swoony romance, and heart-wrenching emotions that will rush through you with each chapter. Prepare to get lost in the world of Doon from start to finish. You won’t regret it!

There are no words for the perfectness of my feelings for these characters and this story and there just is nothing I love more than a story that ends wonderfully. Vee and Kenna remind me of me and my bestie in so many ways it's crazy, (btw still waiting for our callings but you know) I can't think the bae enough for making me read these books. This series has officially made its way into my top three series of all time and that's saying something.

*The publisher provided this book in exchange for an honest review through NetGalley.*
The witch of Doon now sits on the throne, Jamie is believed to be dead and Duncan and Mackenna are trapped in Aloway so Veronica has no choice but to put her pain and feelings aside and get her remaining followers ready for the impending battle against the fake queen and her forces. But while on a secret mission to the castle Vee discovers that her true love may be alive after all!
With the Brig o'Doon destroyed and the protal fragmented, Doon's forces are divides and isolated in different dimensions. With the help of Kenna and Duncan and of a storyteller as old as the witch herself, they learn they must rebuild the bridge if they want to have any chance of crossing back to Doon with their "army". When Kenna insists on fighting as well Duncan knows she'll only survive if he turns her into a cold-hearted killer.
It will be a miracle if Vee, Jamie, Kenna and Duncan are able to save their kingdom while also keeping their lives.
I have to warn you that you'll ugly cry many times while reading this book, but you'll also feel warm and fuzzy inside while you want to sing scottish happy folk songs, that's the kind of series ending this is! It's utterly amazing!
The characthers grow so much and change in a way that feels natural but, at the same time, very difficult and they go through joy and harsh times. It's a mix of emotions that blends into a perfect smoothie of feelings.
I don't want to get into many details because I think that the element of surprise adds to the overall story but I can tell you that this ending was perfect for this series and that it made me want to read it from the start again! It's definitely a must read for everyone out there!

I've read this series from beginning to end. Not being one for fairytales with the whole princess and prince thing I was surprised at how much I loved the first two in the series. After the first two though, I started having some issues with the novels. I felt as though the series was being dragged on, it was unclear where it was going, and the "classification" of the novels changed as the story went on.

Forever Doon, like the three before, was a multiple point of view book. Although there is nothing wrong with that, there is a point when it isn't needed. Forever Doon was told from four different points of view. It was clear why it was told from three of the four but the fourth view point seemed extra and unnecessary. Two of the characters were with each other throughout the entire novel and it was just the story being retold, most of the time word for word. The fourth view point did not add any extra insight or necessary details to be needed through the whole novel.

Maturity was another topic I often found myself thinking about as I read the book. The main characters are all said to be above 14, yet I often felt as though they were acting like they were 14. Not only was the language used I the book, such as "skellies" immature and childish, the way character on character conflict was solved was immature. Many times the characters would simply yell at each other instead of actually figuring out the problem and then it would magically disappear like it never happened. It was almost as though a few of the characters were developing, but not in a way that fit the story.

I was hoping that because the series was originally planned for four that the series would have more insight and more character development. Instead it seemed like the characters were developing backwards while the story was moving forward at full force. Not only that, but I also felt like the backstory was very vague and constantly changing. Because of the way the series was written and turned out this is not something I would classify as a "Young Adult" novel but a preteen novel.

Deleted my last review because it was basically all hate. To say it simply, I did not like the book, which I already knew considering I didn't like the other three.

Forever Doon is the 4th and final book in the Doon series. Honestly I'm at a loss for words when it comes to writing this review. I'm not sure that I can completely convey my feelings for this book with words. Nevertheless I'll give it a go...

The book was absolutely beautiful and I couldn't be happier with the way the series ended. (I just don't want to face the fact, that this beautiful, amazing series has come to an end!) On a side note Lorie did say "as of now" when asked if Forever Doon is the final book in the series. Which of course I'm hoping & praying this means there may be another book in the future!

Forever Doon is above all my favorite book in this series. It's dramatic, ferocious and my favorite...epically romantic!

I've come to love each & every character while traversing through the series. That being said, it was difficult at times watching Veronica, Jamie, Mackenna & Duncan go through some pretty tough situations. I felt as if I were there cheering them on, practically biting my nails and even at times closing my eyes and praying they would persevere!

This book is written in all four characters POV, which I loved! I felt that it brought me even closer to each character and made the story very well rounded.

With Forever Doon being the last book in the series things were wrapped up quite nicely. There is one tiny thing I'd have liked to have seen, I won't tell you what it was since it'd be a spoiler but you can always email me to talk about it once you've read it! I'm thinking it was Carey and Lorie's way of leaving a possibility of another book in the series...yep I'm still crossing my fingers on that one!

Also, I must mention...there are new and interesting characters in this installment that I just loved!

Overall I absolutely loved Forever Doon and honestly didn't want it to end. I would recommend this series to anyone who's read Outlander, is interested in time-travel or alternate dimensions or loves books with plenty of adventure & romance, oh and awesome BFFs!

Great conclusion to the Doon series! I just wish there was even more to the ending! Sad to see the series end. Looking forward to more books by these authors!

Meh. Stupid errors like "vile" instead of "vial" and "Frank L. Baum" instead of "L. Frank Baum" (seriously?!?) distracted me.

The other off-putting thing was the obvious Christian imagery (angels? the voice of G-d? the literal deus ex machina AT THE BEGINNING of the book?) - but if ignored/treated as any shapeless fantasy religion it wasn't too bad.

On the other hand, I read through to the end and enjoyed it as completely brainless fare, which everyone needs once in a while.

I really enjoyed this series and it had a satisfying ending. I have grown to love the characters and the authors didn't take the easy way out with some events. It also helps that I share a name with one of the main characters. If you are looking for something with magic, adventure, action, romance, and history I recommend this series.
