If you’re looking for a very dark spicy read this is a wonderful pick. I would recommend checking any triggers before going in, but I could not put it down

This had a really cool plot line and I was excited to start it, but I was a little disappointed by the lack of character development for Aria. She went from meek and timid to big strong captive and then all timid again as soon as she got pregnant.

What happened with Marcus? Why was that so randomly thrown in? And the whole concept of their drug was just an afterthought after the first quarter of the book.

The war seemed dumb. Also, everything gets halted or stalled because Aria can’t choose who she wants? Bffr.

It also was so long for no reason. So much could’ve been shortened down or redacted.

Im literally on book 4 and ive wanted to dnf since book 1. Idk its just not interesting to me, im still kinda confused on the different families and their relations and territories. I wanted to try a different genre and found that it isnt for me as much, i wanted more romance as the switch in Stockholm syndrome was too fast and deep for me.

This book would’ve have been so much better if it was shorter. There were parts that were intriguing and parts that bore me.

Carter Cross is a lunatic and I just couldn’t understand Aria’s love for him.

I don’t see how his actions can be forgotten. He had her imprisoned and the only reason I see for her staying with him is purely sex. There is just too much trauma he causes her.

I finished book 1 and a little bit of book 2. This is marketed as a dark Beauty and the Beast retelling but it’s really just a kidnapper romance with extremely dubious (at best) consent. The FMC, Aria, has an internal monologue that reads like someone in an abusive relationship. The MMC, Carter, is so unlikeable to me that the only ending I would find satisfying at the point is if Aria kills him. Aria has almost no fight or strength to her, which would be fine if we weren’t being told how strong she is.

I will typically forgive a lot of things in a romance if the romance itself is good but this feels so forced and I do not buy their chemistry. There were actually some moments where I thought this could be an interesting thriller but not a romance.
