This story just gets more complex with each issue. I can’t put it down but I’m left with more questions as I read it

Glorious illustrations, compelling characters and rich world. Hugely complex, I'm glad for the back-of-book synopses (it took me a long time to sink back into it after a long hiatus).

Solid, calmer part where we learned some new things about Maika and the little fox. Keep getting much more interesting.

Last year I read Volume 3 and remember feeling relatively lukewarm. Maybe it was 2020 that colored my perception of the last volume. Who knows. I was worried I wouldn't be as interested in these graphic novels but then I read Volume 4 and I'm happy to report that Monstress is still one of my favorite graphic novels ever. I absolutely loved Malika's character development and the way her backstory is slowly unlayered overtime. F--k her dad, by the way. Glad my child, Kippa, is safe.
