4 stars. For the record, I really liked Georgina in this one. Yeah, she whined, but eventually, she saw the error of her ways. Too late for her and Seth, but honestly, I'm over them. They're just annoying. I hope she gets with another guy soon. One who's immortal. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until the next book comes in at my local library. Oh well.

I've almost never been so moved by a book. I feel like I am living Georgina's life sometimes. We are one person when I'm listening to this. Perfect narrator, perfect writing, seriously touching and heart-wrenching section of this story. It's amazing how involved I feel in these characters' lives. I laughed, I cried, I felt nervous and scared.. Seth and Georgina mean a whole lot to me now, and I cannot wait to continue their story!

Well, I need to see what happens. I'm not loving the love triangle (as always), but otherwise it's quite entertaining. I will finish the series in French, though, so that I'll get some practice (I don't think the language is the main thing in this book...)

I have mixed feeling about Succubus Dreams. There was a lot about it that I enjoyed - the story was compelling, I got some answers I've been searching for, etc - but I had some frustrations as well - mostly in the main character, Georgina. I buddy read it with Anne and I think she shares my opinion for the most part, also giving it 3.5 stars.

One big positive is that this series is proving very easy to come back to after a brief break and pick up without any confusion. I think that means that Richelle Mead does a good job of dropping little reminders without doing a recap (I find full on recaps frustrating), and that also the characters are memorable.

My big question from the first 2 books was where/when was Georgina born?! And I finally got a concrete answer in Succubus Dreams, rather than the illusions we've had previously. I was so happy to finally have that answer - but it also drove home a frustration I have with Georgina. Well 2 frustrations. The first being, how does she know so little about her world (the paranormal world) after so long? And why is she learning so much all of a sudden? What's changed to make her suddenly start learning about her world when she didn't for centuries? My second is - Georgina is OLD and yet, she is incredibly immature. Not teen immature, but 20s? Maybe because that's the age range she pretends to be so often that it's made her actually that way? IDK, but it's frustrating.

That frustration aside, this story was very compelling. It focused more on her world than the human world - a change from previous books - and resulted in some pretty intense/gut-wrenching moments. Her relationship with Seth also hit some major developments and that was a great part of the read. We got quite a few flashbacks to another period in her life and I enjoyed those moments immensely. And we're really well setup for future books, with some burning questions that could really impact where this series goes. I'm very excited to see.

The narration was again performed by Elisabeth Rodgers and I'm really enjoying her delivery of the characters. One interpretive choice she made was to give Georgina a different accent in a flashback and I thought that was brilliantly done (I don't know if that was in notes from Richelle Mead or all her own doing but I loved it) - it made transferring to that moment in time even more believable as a different life ago. So I look forward to more with her narration as well.

Georgina is like a warm cup of cocoa and a shot of tequila at the same time. I LOVE HER to pieces. I have been parceling her out so far, using her has rewards for other bookish behavior. She really is a reward, especially when the book starts…

"I wish the guy on top of me would hurry up because I was getting bored."

Yep, she is just what the doctor ordered. But as I posted my progress, I started seeing glimpses of what other bloggers said about this book. Things like heartbreaking, sad, made them cry. Oh no! I don’t want to be sad, but I battled on. It is clear that Georgina and Seth’s relationship is strained by their personal denial and keeping their relationship a secret. Sad. The mysterious dreams she is having paints a picture of a future, a future she desires. I really felt the desperation she felt trying to find out who the man was that would make her dreams come true and the pain that knowing it couldn’t happen brought. Sad. Memories of previous loves that she walked away from fearing, like Seth, she would steal their life. Sad.

Georgina is such an unlikely heroine. She doesn’t storm into danger, but she ALWAYS puts everyone else first. She continually sacrifices her own heart and desires to do right by others. She is genuine and the world would be better with more people like her. As an observer, you see what she is doing. You commend her for it, but you want her to be happy. So in the end, I thought I had passed the sad without a tear. But the story wasn’t over and the tears came.

It will rip your heart out and challenge how much tragedy you can bear.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... I really didn't want them to break up and Seth with Maddie??? Ugh. I don't know why I don't really buy their relationship - probably bias-ness I suppose.

*sighs* It just made me really sad. Poor Georgina.

In Succubus Dreams, the third book in the Georgina Kincaid Series, Georgina Kincaid is dating Seth Mortensen. Jerome and Seattle get a new succubus that Georgina has to mentor. Niphon, the imp that bought Georgina's soul and someone she hates with a passion, must stay in town until the new succubus, Tawny, gets her first lay. Meanwhile, someone, who we later find out is Nyx, is preying on Georgina's dreams and draining her. She goes to Dante, a man who deals in black magic, for help. There's a troupe of angels in town trying to capture Nyx. Eventually the angels capture Nyx with the help of Georgina, Niphon leaves Seattle after Georgina and Jerome find out that he was screwing with her the whole time, and Seth cheats on Georgina with Doug's sister Maddie, leading to a break up.

I just want to say: I am so disappointed in Seth. I actually started tearing up when Georgina found out that he cheated on her and when he broke up with her. And, yes, I call it cheating because, even though Georgina always told him that he could sleep with someone to relieve himself, that wasn't what he was doing. He chose to sleep with Georgina's friend and then he didn't tell her. She had to hear it from Maddie. What happened to the honesty he always called for in their relationship? And couldn't he go find a hooker or something? I mean, for goodness' sake, what the hell possessed him to do it?! And, who the hell gives up Georgina to be with someone else? Despite her failings and shortcomings, Georgina is the best and he just shouldn't have done it. Anyway, I was very upset and I can't read about Seth and Maddie anymore without getting angry, sad, and a myriad of other emotions.

I love Carter. He is my favorite character. He is such a contradiction, good hanging out with evil, sarcastic and kind, and he really cares about Georgina, despite being sarcastic to her most of the time.
