I made it to chapter 12 and was just done. So very little happened in the previous 140 pages that I just did not care once we FINALLY got to visit the demon realm. Once we get about 55-60% into the book we get TOLD about the main religion in an info dump. There is a market visit but the lack of anything substantial is shown.
So much sex. So much time in Cody’s head. The mental issues are unrealistically portrayed in the end and not done well overall.
There is very little world-building, the (very thin) plot staggers along because the authors decided to write a story based off famous internet prompts and executed it poorly. I’ve read short stories that do better with this prompt than the over three hundred pages this was.
It was boring and dragged. It had no substantial world-building (and most of that was done through telling not showing). There was barely any character development.
Also, can we not use food descriptors for BIPOC people. ‘Almond eyes’ is not a good look.
