Would have rated higher, but this was written with a sequel in mind so the characters end up elsewhere than where they should be and I kept saying "no, no, no" as I read what the author wrote. Not sure if I want to slog through another book to see if the ending I prefer will happen or not.

DNF at 68%. It isn’t often that I don’t get through a book; I’ll finish absolute garbage. And this book was not absolute garbage. However, there were things that I just couldn’t get past. The constant reminders that Clara was Nolan’s best friend’s sister was annoying. Additionally, the way that they fall in love so instantly, after she’d just gotten out of a horrible relationship and after he brought another woman into her home to sleep with her, just took me out of it. The worst thing for me, though, was the glorification of virginity. It came up a lot, with constant reminders that Clara and her friend Annie were virgins, and there was a faux-dramatic scene in which Stevie, another friend, recounts how she lost her virginity consensually to a man she didn’t know well in Thailand. Something about the need for sexual purity, along with the seeming shame that came from not being a virgin, was a big turn off. Finally, there was a nice man, Liam, that really liked Clara. Things will inevitably go poorly for him (I assume; I won’t finish it) and he doesn’t seem to deserve that.
I gave this two stars because the writing isn’t bad, and because I can see why people would like this book. I did for much of it, but there are some really glaring things I just could not see past.

Thirty-Eight Days begins when Nolan has to go stay with his best friend's littler sister for a few weeks, because his best friend is worried how she's doing after a horrible break up. Clara and Nolan haven't ever been very close, actually Nolan has always seemed to hate Clara at least to Clara's way of thinking. But when these two come together after not seeing each other for five years, Nolan is thrown for a loop when he sees how beautiful Clara has become, and what a wonderful person she is.. Now he's not sure at all what to do when it comes to her, and Clara is the same way.

I did not like this book at all. I thought in the beginning it was a little bit slow, but it would get better. But I was extremely wrong. I still gave hope though, but in the end it just wasn't for me. The writing was good, but it's just the plot line and the characters I didn't like at all.

A few of the main things I didn't like were:
1) Chapter Twelve. Nolan is a major a hole (Not the good kind of a hole either.) and I felt like he never really redeemed himself from it.

2) The end was just awful. Clara and Nolan were both being stupid and idiotic. I do not even want to read the next book, because that was just not good at all.

That's about all I can say about the book without giving anything away.

I'm going to be in the minority here, I did not like this book much. It had potential, if you remove 100 pages of cheese. Also extremely over dramatic, everything is a huge deal! Clara is also kind of silly. I was also annoyed with the cover, it's a gorgeous cover that clearly has Clara on it, due to the purple tulip in her hands, except the girl on the cover is blonde and Clara is described over and over as a brunette....

Best book evaaaaaaa.
This is the best book I've ever read in my entire life. Although I must admit, I was a little bored with it at first. But once I got too deep into the book, I just couldn't stop. I couldn't help it. I kept scrolling page after page, chapter after chapter, and I never felt bored again. This book is brilliant. It's perfectly arranged to tease the hell out of the readers, but I still don't ever regret wasting the time to read it on my exam night. I would do anything to get a copy of it, and good luck to the author. I love you, Len. <3
