Happy Pub Day to This Might Hurt! I got into bed with only 20% left to the book and had to stay up until I knew what happened.
The full synopsis is available on here & I don’t want to say much and give anything away. I really loved this book and happy that my high expectations going in were met (I LOVED her debut novel My Darling Rose Gold and couldn’t wait for the second publication).
I thought this was a really interesting premise with how many unconventional self improvement type programs I’ve seen pop up especially over the last 2 years.
I loved the multiple storylines and giving background chapters between the more recent timeline and leading up to Natalie arriving at Wisewood to see what’s happened to her sister. And the ending...

I found this very gripping and thrilling. It has the most unlikeable characters ever. Yes some of the backstories were also horrendous and could be used as justification for what happened, but I am sorry to say it doesn’t not for me. I found the main characters hard to like, love it even sympathise with. Their feelings were all twisted and into a bad shape, that at the end I was quite disappointed with how we leave them. I am not sure what to make of it tbh. I think it’s well written and very cleverly done. But I could not like the characters at all.

I liked the mystery and premise, but there were some confusing parts for me. I think it’s partially due to listening to the audio book versus reading a digital or hard copy, but I think it might be a bit confusing regardless! Still liked it though!!!

The author: This is my second book by Stephanie. I’ve had this on my TBR for a long time. I’m not sure why I hadn’t read it because I liked Darling Rose Gold.
The book: I love a book with dual timelines when it’s done well, and this one was done very well. I found it easy to follow and you gain so much understanding of the characters by looking into their past. While this wasn’t an action-packed thriller; there was enough mystery, along with the bizarre plot, to keep me hooked. There’s no open-ended ending – the author did excellent and wrapping everything up nicely.

Interesting concept. Nothing mind blowing but also not much to complain about. It wasn’t Until half way through the book that I realized one of the backstories wasn’t Natalie’s but the 3rd unnamed narrator. If I knew there was a third narrator from the beginning I may have enjoyed it a bit more. Overall, it was fine.
