Book #52 read in 2011
At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like this book or the writing style, but about 50 pages in I did. I really liked the characters and the story development. Can't wait to read more in the series.

This was an interesting first-in-series which, in addition to having a strong woman detective, dealt with an issue of interest to me—adoption. The murder victim had been looking for her birth parents when she was killed. I took issue with, and disagreed with, the idea that an adopted child has a right to find and contact his or her birth parents, regardless of their wishes. [2021: I am more empathetic to this now.]
