Better than the first, imo, but still a little too close to ACOTAR mannerisms and TOG plotlines to let it slide completely. I will read these now for Killian cause I do love me a soft spoken nerd

I really enjoyed the follow up to A Broken Blade. This whole series so far has been really amazing! This is a great fantasy series for anyone who is wanting to go to the next step after YA fantasy.
I believe this series is going to be four books and you can tell that it was well planned out, although the second book has less action then the first it also builds up a lot of what is to come. I can’t wait to read the rest fi the series!

Whew! What an excellent distraction! I really wish this series could be a tv series-it’s so engaging! It’s been time to update the quests of Lord of the Rings for years, and this series was a step in the right direction with a fresh take on group work, quests, & good vs evil. Great visuals & character development. Can’t wait to dive into the next one.

A very solid second installment in a series that beautifully builds on the world and issues addressed in the first book.

I loved the world-building in this book. The descriptions of the Elverin city we are mainly in were gorgeous and magical. We also get much more background and history about the Elverin and Aemon. Throughout all of this, Keera has to come to terms with her past trauma and accept her role in the rebellion’s future. She had great character development in this book and it was wonderful to see side characters like Nikolai, Syrra, and Riven support her.

The plot moved at a better pace than the first book, but there were still some times where the progression of it didn’t make the most sense to me. For example, there’s a traitor amongst the rebels and other mysterious things that keep happening, that involve Lord Curringham. It seemed like we weren’t given a lot of clues or connections until the very end. There was no urgency from the characters to figure out who was the traitor amongst them.

Overall, solid second book, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the rest of the series plays out!

This series is definitely under hyped! The world and magic system is cool and Keera is a bad*** FMC!

This one is so overwritten as to be truly dull. The story is standard and so are the characters. Keera goes with the halflings and elves to the main elvf city to be insulted and attacked, and heads back out to act as if she's doing the work of the standard, evil king and prince. Argh.
