This book is pedophilia wrapped in a pretty bow. Children cannot give consent. Full stop.

So, I will start out by plainly stating this book certainly is not for everyone , which is understandable as it is confronting and at times disturbing. That being said, there’s something about this book that I loved, even while it disturbs me. I honestly didn't think I’d ever be able to but I had to see it through to the end - I was invested in Wavy's character.

It's not an easy read and more sensitive readers or those with certain triggers such as pedophilia, child neglect & abandonment, drugs & inappropriate sexuality may not be able to read it but for those who can i suggest reading this book

The age difference was too hard to stomach. Not okay.

It’s hard to think about how to rate this book or even say if I enjoyed it. I don’t think, for the most part, that this “romanticized pedophilia” but I can see why many people would think that. I do feel like it makes you think about right and wrong and how rough life can be. I can’t say I “liked” this book but I also didn’t not like it. It’s definitely a book I’ll think about for a while. I would say not to read this book if you’re someone who doesn’t view the world in shades rather than black and white.

Well written, sure. So fucking dsigusting, though. The ending made me feel so fucking furious. Actually, the entire book did. Kellen should fucking rot in hell. Maybe, the author should, too. Pedophilia is pedophilia and it is wrong no fucking matter what.

Compelling writing and storytelling around consent caveated with 5000000 trigger warnings.

I finished it because it’s for book club, but there are no “good guy” pedophiles. I’m honestly so grossed out at the idea that a 12 year old can consent to being with a 24 year old. And why doesn’t a single adult around her care or say something???

I read the author’s interview and she wrote from a place of being in a relationship with a much older man and the stigma she faced, but like yeah? If we can’t draw the line here/see black and white on this, then where can we draw it? Let’s not romanticize this.
