This is a cute begining to the series. I've always thought Simon was a great character and in this series there seems to be no change. He is still down to earth and doubting himself around every corner. The real estate most three dimensional character in the series. Can't wait for the next one.

- A bit disappointing
- Characters are not as easy to get attached to as the main series.
- Storyline is on the bland side.

Simon! Fantastiskt roligt att följa Simon eftersom han är en av mina favoritkaraktäer ifrån TMI, men också att få följa med till Shadowhunter Academy.

What a great opening story!

I already know that this is going to be better than The Bane Chronicles! I was so worried about this book after reading that cringe-fest. Magnus was almost ruined for me so I was worried that my love for Simon would diminish too. But alas, there is nothing to worry about because it's already off to a great start!

Regardless of what Simon thinks - whether he thinks he's a hero or not - Simon is still Simon with his wonderful sense of humor and logical, yet comedic thoughts.

When Simon lost his memory in City of Heavenly Fire, I literally cried and I NEVER cry! It made me so sad, especially because he wouldn't remember his best friend, Clary, or Isabelle! Though, he's starting to get bits and pieces back, I feel bad for his friends and girlfriend. It's hard on them too.

The ending to this short story proves that. Simon pushed away Isabelle to try to save her feelings, which is very Simon-like, but we all know that it hurt Isabelle more.

I'm already fond of George, which I know is a problem because, after reading the short story at the end of Lady Midnight, A Long Conversation, I know something bad happens to George. Nothing has happened yet but I'm already sad about it!

Also, I love that Simon was given Shadowhunter gear that was meant for a girl lol!

Would be better if I could remember some of the minor characters mentioned but the story was still enjoyable.

I'm not really that much into the mood for reading right now so I figured I'd read this short story to get myself into it again, and I think it worked.
I really enjoyed the first one of these already and I had a lot of actually-laughing-out-loud-moments. I'm so glad to see some old faces (or hear Simon talking about them), but also to meet new ones! George is already one of my new faves for sure!
Can't wait to read the next one.
