The third volume and this time the girls are battling Queen Metalia (and Beryl). They are trying to save Tuxedo Mask and hoping to that things will turn out. It was a very exciting volume, maybe a tad too fast paced for me at times. We barely have time to celebrate before the next enemy appears. I guess that some time did pass, be for me it just felt like a couple of days. I would have liked the story to be a bit more slower so we could enjoy it more.
Not to mention that the biggest and most horrible character was added to the story at this point, Chibi-Usagi. Sorry, I just never was a fan of the girl, not with how she appeared, claimed Mamo, claimed Usagi's family. I guess we are supposed to feel sorry for her, but I just never liked her and my liking never went up no matter how far we get in the story. I feel it would have been better if this character was added a couple more volumes down the line.
But I did love the girls and seeing Usagi get more and more mature. She was so brave in this one, yes, she cried, but wouldn't anyone when faced with death, pain, and the loss of dear ones? Yet, she still continued and I love that. Go Usagi!
I can't wait to see how the Black Moon saga continues, while I am not a fan of Chibi-Usa, I do love this story.
And yes, there were parts of this manga that had me crying.

This was the volume that made me realize what a disservice the 90s anime was to Naoko Takeuchi's work.

From Usagi being turned into a complete moron, to the tragic love story of Endymion and Serenity being destroyed by a now toxic Mamoru...reading the manga makes you realize how dreadful the classic anime was in many aspects.

This volume brought me to tears, and I can't remember the last time a manga did that.

I will say that the action scenes are absolutely horrendous and nearly incomprehensible. Had to read several panels over to get a clear idea of what was happening, and didn't even register a death until another character mentioned it.

Overall, the best volume thus far.
