The cover may make this seem like a NA book, or even an erotic book, but no worries, this is pure YA. At least in my definition of YA/NA. The main character is a High School Student/teenager, there is no sex.
Sadie is a wonderful, delightful character and I loved her to bits. Seriously, the things she does are amazing. Her mom is pregnant (Yes, due to stupidity (at least that is what I would call it when someone doesn't use protection)) and Sadie takes care of most things (also taking care of her mom). So when her mom can't work due to her pregnancy being too much, Sadie takes over her mom's job. Which is not something a lot of teenagers would just do in the summer when they have free time. She just did it and thanks to her matureness (which is logical if one has to take care of so much) she got the job.
I loved how she was around Jax, while normal girls would squeal and run around him like crazy, she is totally unfazed and not impressed with him. This made me so happy. I was worried she might turn out to be a rabid fan after all, but no, no. She falls for Jax, because of how he is in normal life/real life. She knows she shouldn't fall in love, after all relationships when one of the partners is famous tend to not work out. But she can't stop her love. And it was just delightful to see her trying and Jax trying and in the end they just couldn't stay away.
I loved Sadie for other reasons as well. For how she is around other people, how even though she has a job, she does so many other things. She is even loosening up and going to friends or parties. I really liked that, since she does deserve it so much.
Jax, ah Jax. I loved him. He was so sweet and nice. Totally not what I expected, I had expected a more stuck-up/spoiled star, but instead we have a guy who just wants things to be normal, who just wants to take some time away from all the fuss.
I loved how he was around Sadie. How he treated her like a queen, how fun they were together. How natural it all seemed. How he tried to warn her, tried to protect her from his famous lifestyle. He did at least try.
His jealous side was just adorable. And I could just imagine his face when he saw Marcus talking to Sadie.
The character I disliked most would be the mother. She is what? Around 40 years old? Maybe younger? Sorry, at times I was thinking that she was just 15 or 16. Given how she acted, how stupid she was with her decisions, how she let her kid do everything. I felt sad for the little baby. I may hope he has a better and more fun life than Sadie has. Though we saw how the mom acted around the baby. And sorry, maybe it is partially to blame to a disease/illness, but I am also fairly sure it is just another one of mom's antics and not wanting to take responsibility. Some people shouldn't have kids, that is what I will say to this part. I know it is harsh, but sorry, she is not a responsible adult. She lets her kid do everything, has to be reminded of bills, of using condoms when having sex and so much more.
I also didn't really like Marcus. He was a great friend, but I didn't like how he kept pushing Sadie and how he made her doubt things. I know why he did it, but he should see she will never see him like that.
The book isn't only about Sadie and Jax's relationship. Sure this is a big part, but it is also about Sadie and her needing to let go. Her mom needs to step up and become the adult again and not let her kid do everything. Then we also have friendship and of course Jax's famous lifestyle. All in all, a book that has everything. Swoon-worthy romance and real life problems.
The ending was just sooooo cute, and made me smile a lot. I am happy to see it ended like this and not the way I was thinking.
I would truly recommend this book to everyone!

I actually started this series from book four, [b:Just for Now|16116392|Just for Now (Sea Breeze, #4)|Abbi Glines|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1356512856s/16116392.jpg|21491232]. I read an expert from it not realizing it wasn't a first book and fell in love with the story and rushed to download it to my Kindle. I've never not started a series from book one. Before I was even finished I knew I had to read the series.
Breathe was a sweet love story that I enjoyed immensely. I was also lucky to grab a re-release with Jax' POV, I always love hearing the guys feelings and thoughts. It makes the story even more juicier. I really liked Sadie and Jax as characters and instantly bonded with them. I could feel and believe their excitement and fears about each other and what a relationship between them would mean.
Basically it's as the synopsis says: Sadie is raising her mom and Jax is a teen idol rock star who is feeling suffocated by his fame and the fakeness of it all, but when Sadie appears in his life he can finally breathe. It's a cute little love story that will make you swoon. *sigh*

The story begins with our main character Sadie White who has grown up, raising her hopelessly dependent and now pregnant mother. She’s roped into spending her summer holiday cleaning houses in place of her mother, who can’t manage with her increasing pregnancy. Little does Sadie know that she is actually cleaning the house of the famous teen heart-throb Jax Stone, who happens to take a liking to her. Their friendship/romance blossoms, but then runs into trouble when the media find out that the famous Jax Stone is dating the help.
One of the main things I loved about this book, is that Abbi Glines took time to develop the secondary characters. Sadies mom is the epitome of a terrible parent. She is self-absorbed and narcissistic never considering how her actions may have consequences. But while I often found myself resenting her I also felt sorry for her, she’s one of those people who can never get their shit together no matter how hard they try. While Ms. Mary the head housekeeper at the Stone Mansion, is kind and motherly and looks out for Sadie at every turn. Even lecturing Jax about not breaking Sadie’s heart because she has too much drama in her life already. And then there’s Mr Greg, the elderly gardener with arthritis who Sadie spends her afternoons playing chess with. The author created this nice atmosphere of family for Sadie in her workplace, which gave a nice contrast to her home life.
There is a slight hint at a love triangle between Jax, Sadie and Marcus, a serving boy who befriends Sadie. But unlike many YA books with love triangles, Sadie knew who she wanted and there was none of this back and forth crap. She was clear from the start with Marcus that friends are all they were, despite him wanting more. However if I had had the choice I would have hands down chosen Marcus *swoon*, there was just something about him that set him apart and definitely had me more excited than Jax did.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. Being summer here in New Zealand, I have been staying at the beach so this was the perfect getaway read, simple, romantic and cute.I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, ‘Because of Low’ which is a companion novel, focusing on Marcus *girly giggle*.
Things I loved about the book:
The development of the secondary characters. Especially those at the Stone mansion, and how they become a great support system for Sadie.
Things that I didn’t so much like about the book:
The writing at times felt rather basic making me feel like I was reading a book aimed at a younger age group (but then the raunchy sex scenes had me thinking twice :P ) and the dialogue sometimes felt unnatural and forced.
“I know being with me is not easy. But I want you to understand no one has me, or has ever had me, except you.”- Jax Stone, Breathe (Abbi Glines)

I loved this book! :) I do have to say, some parts weren't realistic but i just didn't care. I loved the book and i wanted to read it all in one sitting, and i just fell in love with all the characters. Although there were a few parts which slightly annoyed me, they were few and far between. I recommend this book if you love romance, and aren't too fussed with everything being realistic, because this is a fanastic book that i will definitely read again :)

Okay so.. I dont think anyone is actually going to read this review so.. Here goes
I kind of find this a bit ridiculous. They kept on going back and fort. I like Marcus better. There's nothing in Jax's personality that attracts me to him..
Sure he's a rockstar that has a heart or whatever do you want to call that, he keeps on making bad decisions. And dont get me started on Sadie, she's kind of annoying, she was portrayed to be this girl that takes care of her mother but as the story progress she also keeps on being this reckless teen..
But overall, since I read.. "Because of low" first. Its fine, its not not that bad, but not that good either..

DNF :(
I just couldn't get lost in this story.
The writing was just too formal, nobody speaks like that especially not teenagers.
It's like it was a story written about a couple in their late 20's / 30's but then decided to make them teenagers, or something, I don't know.
Especially Jax been a rock star, he spoke more like a regency lord of the manor or something.
And I really don't like these heroine's who are stunningly beautiful but are all "who me, oh I'm nothing special!" Whatever.
I may try [b:Because of Low|13146214|Because of Low (Sea Breeze, #2)|Abbi Glines|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1322924946s/13146214.jpg|18323697] because I've heard it is better & [b:While It Lasts|13496738|While It Lasts (Sea Breeze, #3)|Abbi Glines|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1332261619s/13496738.jpg|19040270] is supposed to be great.
