The formatting of this book took out all the enjoyment of reading even though the story is impactful and the writing is eloquent and poignant. There are hardly any paragraphs, the whole book is one long dense text, and the dialogues are not marked in any way, to the point where I had to go back just to discern who was speaking. It made me dread picking up the book to finish it.

One of the best, if not the best audiobook I have ever listened to. It is a superb book brought to full life by outstanding narration. The story itself, the prose, is riveting and haunting. We can see in the news or recall too recent histories of countries dissolving into autocracy, tyranny and the resultant horrors. This book makes you understand what that actually means as we live through the hell of a dystopian Ireland through the experiences of Eillish Stack.
