As a lover of horror and zombies I’m pretty used to gore and disturbing content, however, I couldn’t finish this book. It describes in-detail rape in first person more than once. I love the Walking Dead series and assumed this would be similar to the series, even if it was about one of the antagonists in the series. It was a disappointing read.

Mr. Kirkman really writes things just for shock value that barely make sense lol

This book is very mixed paced but continously progresses in character development or through traveling, although feels slower at times. The progression often moves in a completely different way than what you're expecting.
It's interesting seeing the start of the apocalypse from the perspective of different characters. The beginning is enjoyable, with all the stops the group takes along their journey it really felt like part of the franchise. We get multiple main characters, some of them gradually become morally questionable and further, leaving you not so sure you want then to survive.
The last 3rd in particular was very intense, a lot of things happen that I wasn't expecting. There are some big moments that change the dynamic of the story so you never really know how things are going.
Once we're somewhat comfortable things are shaken up.
