Take the Bride was a fast paced, sexy, engaging, sweet novella. That grabbed me from the start and never let go, thanks to both the characters and the storyline and I would happily recommend it to others.

This was a great book. Sometimes novella leave me wanting more in the storyline. This book is well rounded. I didn’t feel like I missed anything with the shortened story. Worth the read.

Very quick novella read. Makes me wonder what happens to the fiance she left at the altar though.

This is the author's first book with 1001 Dark Nights, and I loved this side story about the Knight sister, from Carly Phillips' new Knight Brothers series.

Sierra Knight is the youngest of 4 siblings. Her 3 older brothers are overprotective, but kind, and they all love each other very much. When she is walking down the aisle to her fiance, the one who doesn't give her butterflies, but will give her a good, stable life, she can't help but put her eyes on her first love. He's there because he's her brother Sebastian's (the hero from book 1) best friend. He was her first everything, and she's never been able to truly get over her feelings for him. When the priest asks if anyone objects, her eyes automatically meet Ryder's. And then, he stands up and starts talking!

Ryder Hammond has been a friend of the Knight family since he was a kid. He and Sierra were each other's first loves when she was a senior in high school, and he 2 years older. But like teenage boys tend to do, he made a decision for both of them that led to their breakup so she could go away to college. He thought he was doing right by her, but he broke both their hearts, and he never told her the real reason why. When he's confronted with the sight of her walking down the aisle to another man, he has to object. He can't stand the idea that their chance is lost forever. When she agrees to leave the church with him. He drives a couple hours away to a resort in the Poconos, and hopes some time alone will help him convince Sierra that they truly belong together forever.

Ryder and Sierra obviously still had strong chemistry, but that was the least of their concerns. Ryder had to admit to his faults and mistakes, and Sierra had to learn to trust him, and her own instincts, again. I enjoyed watching them struggle to come to terms with where they were, and where they wanted to be, in their lives. Separately and together.

Sierra's brothers are so fantastic, and I'm really looking forward to getting the other 2 brothers' stories! I wouldn't mind knowing more about Ryder's older brother as well! Plus, it appears Sierra's oldest brother Ethan's story will be a crossover with the author's Dare series, which I ADORE. So many very exciting things coming soon from her.

This story was the epitome of a second chance romance, and though there was the drama of her non-wedding, it didn't have a lot of the angst that typically causes my love/hate relationship with that trope. And I for one was so glad of that. It took that dramatic event for each of the characters to realize what they really mean to each other, and then they didn't want to waste any time getting their HEA. Of course, this was a novella, so that sped things along as well. I really enjoyed this one, as I usually do this author's work, and I'm anticipating what's next.

For a novella, that was very satisfying, and can genuinely be enjoyed without reading the first book (even though I read them back to back). Somehow, it was both emotionally fulfilling AND chock-full of sexy content. How?! Pretty impressive.

Quick and fun, second chance romance
5 stars

When I first read the blurb for this book, I assumed it was going to be a wham-bam, caveman takes his woman, type of book. And while that would have been fine, it actually wasn’t much like that at all. It was more of a slow-burn. Well, a slow-burn with sex.

The story was a fairly simple second-chance romance with a twist on the circumstances of the reconciliation. Despite that, the writing really elevated the story to something special that made me keep those pages turning and turning. It’s a short story - just 125 pages - so you’ll devour it in no time at all.

Sierra was a likeable character and you could understand and sympathise with her plight and confusion over what to do. I mean, what would you do if you thought the love of your life was lost to you? You can sulk or move on with second best - even though you’ll always be aware he’s second best.

Ryder was absolutely delicious. Such a rugged, alpha man who’s determined to win back the heart of the girl he’s always loved. He just needed a boot up the bum for him to realise it’s now or never. And he’s going to make sure it’s now.

The sex was wonderful but it was actually more of the banter and intimacy that caught my attention and captured my heart. These two were made for each other which made this a sighworthy and swoonworthy romance.

This book is technically the second book in the Knight Brothers series but stands completely alone (and it does because I haven’t read the first book in the series, [b:Take Me Again|41946914|Take Me Again (The Knight Brothers, #1)|Carly Phillips|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1537386632l/41946914._SY75_.jpg|65441365]). Sebastian from that book does appear in this book - along with the other Knight brothers - but not with Ashley, although she is mentioned.

This was a fun taster of [a:Carly Phillips|10000|Carly Phillips|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1539819877p2/10000.jpg]’ books and it’s made me want to read more of the Knight Brothers series. She’s got me hooked with this quick, fun and happy romance. 5 stars.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series.**

It’s a novella so you only get so much depth but I enjoyed the characters and the story for what it was.
