I had thought this was going to be more literary fiction than chick lit, but it was a good example of chick lit, for sure. Reminded me of Bridget Jones, Queenie, and plenty of others, but it was well written and had emotional depth.

Quibble: The narrator pronounces the letter "H" with a very audible "h" at the beginning; every time the main character went to talk to HR it was SO distracting!

the writing was a bit simple and repetitive at times, but a beautiful coming of age story nonetheless

I honestly don’t even know how to write a good enough review for such an incredible coming of age story.

I really felt like I had a lot in common with Maddie, even though my mom definitely never told me she’d pray for me
