Lots of great points in this book, and I completely agree with the overall messages the author sets forth. Unfortunately, the writing is overly academic, shallow with not enough detail or examples, and EXTREMELY repetitive. One section on Linda Lovelace from Deep Throat was repeated almost verbatim 3 separate times throughout the book. Plus, this is the sort of book that puts too much time into explaining what's going to be talked about and then restating what was talked about. There's also the very academic trope of critiquing other works, more than fresh thoughts. The author also complains multiple times that vaginal sex is considered the primary sex act in heterosexual relationships, without ever considering why this is (it's the one sex act that involves the genitals of both people) or ever offering up a different opinion with any reasoning. Personally, I would not have taken her seriously if she had tried to claim that oral sex is the primary sex act. She should not have critiqued this social understanding if she didn't have anything to back her position up. It's a good book to read if you're anti-pornography, but it could have been written so much better.
