VAMPS: Fresh Blood was really interesting and unique! The characters made me roll my eyes several times and I found them to be kinda annoying and made me wanna throw the book across the room. The annoying aspect of the characters really brought the plot and my overall view of this one down a bit as well.

I didn't think I was going to write a review for this one, the top review of 3 stars calling this trashy and fun is everything I think about the book. I enjoyed this and needed something more chill as a break from all the fantasy books I've been deep into. I had ups and downs in my attention span with this, but by the end it really picked up and started putting the pieces together without falling into toooo many cliche tropes, which was nice.

When it ended, I went "oh no I need more pages!" and that's why I wanted to write this review. It's been 2 days and I keep wanting to pick up this book thinking I have more to read and the world that was built is now firmly in my imagination. I will definitely be picking up the sequel when it releases.

A story of coming of age and self-discovery in a new way. The book opens with a slew of characters - many of which are presented as a rich and a bit spoiled. I will be honest that the first few pages did not grab my attention but it takes a lot for me to add a book to my DNF shelf so I pushed through the character introductions.

In the end this book is well-written and interesting. It presents the life of Dillon, a dhampir - half vamipire/half human. He's lived is entire life without the knowledge of the vampire world and is suddenly thrown into it by being forced to attend an elite school for vampires. The tensions between normal teen drama and angst and coming of age and self-discovery set this story up for great read.

Between 4 and 4.5 Stars.
For a YA this book was really good, I really enjoyed it and let's be honest,I liked it way more than The Atlas Six. It was really fun as a vampire version of Harry Potter because vampires are sexy wherever you put them. It is the kind of book that you read in one day and it made you in a great mood to read more books with vampires but not the Twilight kind and BTW, this book is so much better than all the Twilight series.

It's honestly just not my style. It's a bit weird too in my opinion.

I rate this a 3.25
I read someone’s review and they said it reads like a CW show. This is the best way to describe it. The books reads quick. I would have loved to see more character development so I had more attachments to the characters.

Overall, it’s a good start, but I need a little more. I look forward to reading the next book - the cliffhanger was expected but I’m curious where the author takes this.
Also, I picked this book up in the adult section at B&N but I would say it leans more towards older YA.

Something’s off about this book. Tried to do some research on the author and there’s pretty much nothing online. In the acknowledgments section the author mentions being picked up by Simon and Schuster after only 3 chapters and no finished manuscript. I find that painfully hard to believe considering how bad the first three chapters are.
I strongly believe this was written by AI.
Read the whole thing because the bad writing and terrible plot (no plot) was sort of relaxing. I didn’t have to think at all beyond being confused every 4 or so pages when the book contradicted itself.
P.S. the first 140 pages only span 2-3 days hahahahaha

DNF at 5%. The writing and execution is very poor. I would expect this to be from the early 2000s, rather than 2023. The writing is choppy and the characters are shallow.

DNF. I read a lot of paranormal books with vampires but this one I could not get into from the start. I don’t like how the characters talked to one another in the first chapter. And wasn’t interested enough to continue
