If there's one thing I love in this world, it is a band of misfits, and Star Bringer offers that. I enjoyed falling in love with each of the characters, and I enjoyed watching them fall in love with each other even more. There's moderate spice (both queer and not), plenty of tension, and high stakes. Absolutely fantastic.

Over hyped, but I'm still glad I read it. Character chemistry is weak.

Non Spoiler Thoughts

I would describe Star Bringer as a contemporary sci-fi romance with lgbtqia characters. It’s a fun easy read with fast paced action sequences that make for a good page turner. It’s an easy to escape to world with a cool Galaxy system where science and fantasy get to play together.

This book definitely feels like a debut of a series that doesn’t try to take itself too seriously but focuses on the fun to be had with the mismatch character personalities, tropes that we all love, and of course the spice and hot haughty leads.

Major Tropes:
-found family
-“we shouldn’t do this”
-chosen one
-forced proximity
-banter

My biggest non spoiler critique is that’s this book was widely recommended as a sapphic romance, however in my opinion the development of that relationship felt underutilized and didn’t feel very front and center as some of the other couplings in the story. Could just be bc I am a human of the rainbow variety myself, but I would have loved to see way more abt them in this book.

Good To Know:
- 1st person perspective
-multiple POVs
-multiple romances
-modern language use
-irreverent, snarky humor
