A chef suffering from trauma witnesses a murder, but no one believes her except a loner-ish writer. Reece comes off as skittish and fragile, though she slowly rebuilds her tenacity and resilience. Brody is one of Nora's more dickish MMCs - he's cranky, abrasive but has a soft spot for her. It's a slow burn romance - plenty of fighting at first, before feelings come into play. I enjoyed their journey of falling in love (especially his), and there's an organic touch to their romance.

Brody might seem mean at times but his no-nonsense attitude is what Reece really needed. He truly cares for her, I liked that he'd always believed her, and is very protective of her. The little things he did for her are very sweet. The suspense is engaging, and Reece's boss Joanne is awesome. But the ending felt a little rushed, which was a pity. Would've loved a more rounded aftermath/resolution.

I loved Brody but I didn't like at all how much they talked about Reece's body/weight. (I understand it was written some time ago and it's set in a small town but I still think it was a bit much)
