This was excellent! I read this over two days, as it was just so engrossing! I got lost in the intense mystery of The Girl Without Skin.

I don't know much about the author, but I hope he has more for me to devour. The writing reminded me of another book I'm currently reading - The Craftsman, they are not similar in story, but the way the landscape is set and forms part of the story as much as another character would, reminded me of Sharon Bolton's writing.

We start with a mummified corpse, and move on, quickly, to a set of new murders which are subsequently linked back to some old ones. We get some twists and turns, and end with a satisfying conclusion. It's an excellent read. Fast paced and thrilling.

There is gore and blood, and historic crimes; people to love and those to hate. I got sucked in to the character development quickly, and appreciated the hopping back and forth to 1973.

This book was filled with tension and atmosphere, and reading it felt claustrophobic, which contrasted with the open setting of the Icelandic landscape. It felt like I was there with Jakob and Matthew, solving the crime and uncovering the gruesome truths alongside them, in their respective time periods.

I would definitely recommend this to any thriller/Nordic suspense readers!

Quiero que recuperar el tiempo que he perdido leyendo este libro. No hay suspense, no hay misterio, la historia es insulsa y los personajes planos y estereotipados, sumado a una traducción deficiente han hecho que tarde casi un mes en leermelo 🥲

Readers beware, this is a very graphic crime novel (skinning and disembowelment of both people and animals) that also heavily features disturbing depictions of child abuse. For me the Tupaarnaq storyline felt contrived and did anyone else wonder how she managed to get her body completely (and professionally from the sound of it) tattooed when she had been in prison since a teenager?
This is a novel where the location and climatic conditions play almost a large a part as the main protagonists. Fans of graphic Nordic crime will enjoy this….

This was an excellent start to a series I will definitely continue!
Right from the beginning of this book I was hooked and could not put it down and to be fair I was consistently gripped throughout the whole of this book.
This book was terrifying, intense and brutal. This book is not for the faint of heart. However to those of you who love a thriller, a twisty mystery and one of the most atmospheric reads you might ever pick up - I would definitely direct you to The Girl Without Skin by Mads Peder Nordbo.
I loved the setting, I have never read a setting like that and no offence intended but London can get a bit boring.
This book was utterly gruesome, but not unnecessarily so. It was more deep and intricate than you can imagine and in the end this story had just broken my heart over and over.
All of this combined has left me wanting more from this author, setting and characters and I simply cannot wait for the next instalment.
I highly recommend this book for the lover of an intense thriller.

I really enjoyed this thriller - the first book I've ever read which is set in Greenland. Matthew Cave, a journalist, is in the town of Nuuk, on the Arctic Circle when a frozen body is discovered - it's believed to be an ice age Viking so the story could be big news. A police man is left to guard the body overnight, but the next day, he is found dead and the body has disappeared. Matt receives a tip that this killing could be related to four unsolved murders from 4o years ago. He is given the diary of the police officer who was investigating those murders by his source. As he reads through the diary, Matt believes that these two sets of murders are definitely related and comes to realise that he might be in danger. I'll look forward to reading more from this author. Thanks to NetGalley for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.
