I have never read a book like this one. It was such a unique story. I loved the queer representation within the book and how Addie talks about the various people she has fallen for throughout her long life.
The artwork aspect of this blew me away, I thought it was so beautiful the way she was able to scatter herself through history with art.
The only reason I hesitate to give it 5 stars is the ending. I really really wanted her to have a happy ending and even though what she did was so badass, I really wanted her to find someone who remembered her.

An addicting story that passes three hundred years quickly. The ending is great and pushed it from 3.75 to a full four. Not a five because the prose itself felt somewhat meandering and unnecessary. I routinely found myself skimming forward and not needing to read the entire page to understand everything that was going on.

Anyways, great. Keep on living.

It's remarkable how a story spanning 300 years can feel slow-paced (in a good way!). With truly gorgeous writing, this book is one to savor--in true Addie LaRue fashion, it's about the journey, not the destination. Oh but the end was good too!!

V.E. Schwab, why must you hurt me again? ;o;

I throughly enjoyed The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and the intricate layers that make up this story. The way it was told, the characters, the themes of loneliness and yearning—for love, for life, for learning and art—to be remembered. 🤯

“I am stronger than your god and older than your devil. I am the darkness between stars, and the roots beneath the earth. I am promise, and potential, and when it comes to playing games, I divine the rules, I set the pieces, and I choose when to play. And tonight, I say no.”

I was quite intrigued by Luc—how he was crafted to be charming and alluring… yet you know that despite the romanticization, he is indeed a toxic, selfish entity. We see this power dynamic between them over the years, how it changes and shifts; how she learns his tells and eventually learns how to play the game.
