Cute story. More romance than I expected. Interesting twists. A bit too predictable for me though.

As most things V.E.Schwab writes, this book is beautiful. It was quiet, warm, and intriguing. Wonderful read that I can see myself reading again and again.

I absolutely adored this book and I know it will stay with me for a long time. The prose was absolutely beautiful and I couldn't read without a pen close by to mark passages I loved. Addie is, truly, an unforgettable character.

I saw some criticisms about this book not being historical enough, or adventurous enough, or romantic enough - for me personally, I liked that it only dipped into those genres a bit. It spans history but isn't a histocial. It's romantic without being a romance.  Ultimately, this is a story about relationships, connection, art - and how all are vital to life. It's firmly Addie's story, and the other main characters are mostly there to give us context about her.

I know I'll be reading this story again and can't wait to find more to love about it.

Writing is phenomenal, great use of figurative language and descriptors, interesting themes about death and making the kost of life, interesting premise.

I kind of hate the characters. I hate Luke. I kind of hate Addie because she seems somewhat inhuman at the end.

I like my stories more free and happy go lucky and this book is dark in a way that doesn't have a silver lining unfortunately.

I fucking hate that she ends up eith the abusive ex boyfriend. Fuck Luke he's such an asshole and fuck him for ruining her life. He just wants to torture her.

At some point, Addie says she is Eurydice, and her lovers are Orpheus. While this is true, I also got the feeling this was the story of Hades and Persephone, of a muse and a thief. Maybe this is my scorpio moon talking but while Addie and Henry have a beautiful relationship, I felt myself fall for the dark. To me, ultimately  this book is about Addie and Luc, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I don't quite know how to express how much I loved this book, how special it felt to read something that has so many bits and pieces that felt like me.

As an artist, I deeply feel the need to leave a mark, to be remembered.

As a witch, I found myself in Estele, worshipping the old gods, finding them in the woods, in the moonlight and in the seasons.

As someone who has had my fair share of trauma and mental health issues, who has always felt everything so deeply, I found myself in Henry's storms.

This book is so special too because there's little bits that meet my own history like Addie sharing a birthday with my late grandmother, or the story taking roots not far from where I live, and while I started this book last year and forgot it after I put it down, 60 pages in, I believe it was because I wasn't meant to read it until now, when I would truly need it.
