I read the English version of this book, so some things might have been lost in translation.

I didn't really like the prose in this book. It felt like I was reading a book, and not like I was in it (if that makes sense). Some of the language just seemed a bit cringy in my opinion, but that could also be attributed to the MC being a teenager.

I can kind of see where the Hunger Games comparison comes from (poor teen girl gets selected to go to the rich capital), but on an intellectual level, I don't think it fits. I also felt like the villains were weak, and all the characters were underdeveloped.

I thought that Chobahm's plan was dumb, and I don't think it should have succeeded. The easy victory also felt artificial to me.

The second epilogue felt extremely out of place to me, I wish it had ended with
Haeri's

I did find the concept intriguing though, and I didn't see the plot twist coming.

This story was marketed as Hunger Games meets Squid Game, so I was expecting more of the action that those two brought. This is more the socioeconomic status of those two shows/books, where we have people living inside the Snowglobe (think "the Capitol") and those living outside (think the poor districts or the less wealthy who joined Squid Games to earn money for a chance at a better life).

Our main character, Chobahm, is invited into the Snowglobe after a tragic "accident" happens with of of the famous elite...but soon, she finds out that living inside the Snowglobe is not all that it's cracked up to be.

Thank you to NetGalley, Soyoung Park, and Delacorte Press for the opportunity to read and review this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I am looking forward to see what's next in the duology in spring 2025!
