I absolutely adored The Bodyguard and I had high hopes for this one going in. Thankfully I was not disappointed. At all. I read this book in two sittings (it would have been one if I hadn’t fallen asleep in the first one) and absolutely devoured it. Witty and funny and full of love, I smiled the whole time I was reading. As an artist and someone who lives in Houston, I could picture everything and connected so much with Sadie and fell in love along with her. I’m still smiling just thinking about this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing a copy of this book in return for an honest review

I really enjoyed this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 book.

Sadie's world was upended when she had a medical emergency that changed her life - one that hit closer to home than she thought - that resulted in faceblindness. The reader gets to follow along with Sadie as she attempts to adjust to living in a world of not recognizing those that are most familiar with her. I found the relationship dynamics to be just fun and lighthearted. I really did not see the twist coming. Parker has a whole lot of pain underneath all of the rage. I found myself wanting to know more about Sadie's father's story. Lucinda was just...she was somethin'. Sue was the classic best friend who champions her best friend the best she can. And, Joe and Oliver. Just, Joe and Oliver. Just read the book. Katherine Center did a great job at the banter between characters and bringing the reader along for the ride.

Yes, this book is about faceblindness, but I think a bigger idea comes through in Center's writing. She weaves throughout the book the idea of confirmation bias; we often see what we are looking for and continually look for evidence to support that. I think this book gives some great space for the reader to consider their own confirmation bias, and consider a shift in perspective.

It was definitely a cute romance read.
